PhilNONI is built on a simple commitment: describe what the research actually shows, and nothing more. Our products have been studied in the laboratory and the findings published in a peer-reviewed journal — the same standard used across the sciences.

This page gathers that published work. Each study below links to the original in the Silliman Journal, alongside a plain-language explanation of what it examined and what it found. We describe these as laboratory findings — not as claims that our products prevent, treat, or cure any disease.

A microbiologist by training, Dr. Maslog led quality assurance and in-house research at PhilNONI for over a decade. Her two peer-reviewed studies in the Silliman Journal — examining the finished bottled product itself — form the scientific foundation of this series. She continues to guide PhilNONI's science as Scientific Advisor Emeritus.

In-vitro laboratory study

Antibacterial susceptibility of PhilNONI Juice against three common pathogens

A laboratory (in-vitro) study of the finished, bottled 100% PhilNONI Juice, testing its activity against three well-known bacteria — Salmonella typhi, Staphylococcus aureus, and Escherichia coli. Because the testing used the actual bottled product rather than fresh fruit, it speaks to what is in the bottle on the shelf. These are laboratory findings and are not a claim that drinking the juice treats or prevents infection in people.

Laboratory isolation study

Isolation of the phytochemical compounds in the Philippine noni variety

A laboratory study identifying the naturally occurring compound groups present in the Philippine Morinda citrifolia variety — including steroids, glycosides, terpenoids, alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins, tannins, phenolics and others. Its significance is that different noni varieties from different countries can differ in their compounds, and this work documents what is present in the Philippine variety specifically.

Quality control

Before It Ever Reaches a Bottle

The two studies above were unusual events — a question, an experiment, a published result. This is the other part: the repetitive, every-single-batch quality control that never gets published anywhere. Dra. Maslog on what she actually did for years, from teaching fruit gatherers in coastal villages to the cabinet of bottles nobody drinks.
